So what exactly makes this place so magical?
Everything has some level of magick in it. This place is constructed with it. Call it html, call it CSS, call it Javascript, call it willpower, call it inspiration. Something always comes around and tries to make order out of the chaos. This is the basis for all things. Power and energy must be channeled in order to do this, and this can be discribed as Magick.
Is there a reason for using a K in "Magick"?
The K in Magick is a way to differentiate between the forces that actually crate change versus an illusion designed to disguise itself as that change. It is a way to differentiate in text the artform of illusions, sleight-of-hand, obfuscation and encryption with the actual ways in which power is manipulated. Magic is what is featured here, but Magick is what built the dimension in which it resides.
Do you actually believe any of this stuff?
Yes and no. Although I am an atheist, a skeptic, not a wiccan and not spiritual, I do feel drawn to the mysteries of this life and the bizarre state of existence in which we find ourselves. Why not take enjoyment from the irrational and embrace it in a way that can be appreciated without causing harm? Technology is the closest thing to magick one can get. You can't be a wizard and conjure a spell, but you can be a programmer and conjure a digital world. And as Clarke's Third Law states, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
