8-Bit, known by their full screen-name of 8-Bit64, was born and lived the first 20 years of their life 15 minutes away from the Gates of Hell in New Jersey. Their first screen-name: "StarWarrior61" was bestowed upon them by their father. The title of "Star Warrior" came from their tireless efforts to thwart Bowser and collect power stars in Super Mario 64. The "61" was because 64 was taken. But the "1" stemmed from their birth year of 1991, which meant that they held the infamous priveledge of being a "90's Baby".
Their computer-touched life would begin when their parents bought their first family desktop computer- A Compaq Presario 5000 Series in the year 2001. Their parents had it set up while they slept one night, and when they woke up the next morning, they were told by their mother that a wizard had helped them install it. They were each granted an e-mail, and access to the dial-up internet that they had purchased in tandem with the tower. From then on, the young Star Warrior's fate would be sealed. MS Paint drawings, Space Cadet Pinball, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, saving on floppy discs and losing the data because you liked fidgeting with the metal slide too much, downloading songs from limewire, and allegedly downloading viruses "from all those compuer games I see you playing". Simpler times.
The name "8-Bit" would not come into fruition until later, when arguing in AOL gaming chatboards. As a former die-hard Nintendo fan in the early 2000s, 8-Bit would tirelessly fight in the brutal gamer console wars of the era like so many others of their generation. The Nintendo Gamecube, which was the weakest console graphically of the 6th Gen consoles of the time, would have to have its honor defended against Sony and Xbox fanboys. 8-Bit gave themselves the name in honor of the amazing retro 8-bit games of the past that proved that graphics were an overrated metric of the quality of video games. This point would allow 8-Bit to come to the defense of the multi-million dollar company in a small niche community of anonymous strangers online. For their heroism and bravery, the name stuck and their moniker lived on through the ages until this very day.
8-Bit starting with writing from an early age. They would often play pretend with their friends in the schoolyard and make stapled computer paper books authored in microsoft word, donned in colorful WordArt covers. They would later go on to make odd mediocre Fanfiction for Fanfiction.net and upload their first self made .gif images to internet forums using their i88.PhotoBucket account which has since been lost to time.
Other early internet interaction included playing flash games on verious sites including Club Penguin, which proved to be a very big internet timesink for them. One frustrating example included trying to access nick.com during the show "Slime Time Live", which was supposed to have an online interactive element but was always inadvertently DDOS-ed because of the thousands of other kids fighting for site bandwidth at the same time. They were also unable to play Old School Runescape nor Maplestory with their friends because their Compaq couldn't run the games, and their dial-up wasn't fast enough.
Later years of internet life included playing FarmVille like the rest of humanity, taking every kind of "What _____ Are You?" quiz on Facebook, and being a low-key Brony that was trying desperately not to be cringe on Reddit.These days, 8-Bit is married to a former Undertale Fanart Tumblr Artist and webcomic author who they met for the first time in Minecraft. They are also raising a family including a dog with a rarely-uploaded-to instagram, and a child that has thus far been un-scarred by the algorithm of the YouTube Kids App.
